The Portland Fashion and Style Awards is all About Being FABulous!

The Portland Fashion and Style Awards is a prestigious annual awards show that takes place every October, serving as the ultimate grand finale to the year’s line-up of singular and extraordinary fashion shows, industry innovation and growth. Awards are given out in 28 categories. This year’s event, presented by NW College, will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the Ainsworth Event Center (also known as The Scottish Rite).

Nominations for Fashion and Style Awards Now Being Accepted

Fans are encouraged to visit http://pfsa2013.com/vote-2013 to nominate and vote for their favorite Portland salon, hair stylist, make-up artist, fashion/wardrobe stylist, model, boutique, accessory designer, fashion designer, fashion show producer, photographer, blogger and TV personality. Twenty-eight awards will be given out in all.

A Catalyst for Creative Connections

In addition to recognizing industry excellence, the Portland Fashion and Style Awards connects individuals and businesses in Portland’s diverse creative industry and encourages collaboration and growth by leveraging each other’s abilities. By working together, the event sparks new ideas, concepts and projects that wouldn’t normally occur when operating solely in one’s area of specialty. A fresh perspective breathes new life into the creative process and breeds innovation.

Honoring the Best in Portland Style and Fashion

2013 Project Runway winner, Michelle Lesniak Franklin. She is the fourth designer from the Portland area to take home the design challenge trophy.

Sole owner and executive producer, Ann Akre, and producer, Jaileene Eubanks, are teaming for the 2nd year in a row to showcase Portland at its finest. “Portland is quickly becoming recognized for nurturing a culture where people in creative industries can grow and thrive,” explained Akre. “With so much talent in fashion and style coming from our region, it’s only natural that we hold an event to spotlight and celebrate the best of the best.”

Michelle Lesniak Franklin, the 2013 winner of Bravo TV’s Project Runway competition, will appear at the Portland Fashion and Style Awards as a Special Guest Presenter. A total of four Project Runway winners have hailed from the Portland and Vancouver area, providing testament to the creative talents that the Northwest breeds.

Benefiting the Cascade Aids Project (CAP)

A portion of the proceeds from 2013 ticket sales will benefit the Cascade Aids Project (CAP) Kids Connection and Camp KC. Kids Connection provides HIV-specific support to children, youth and families who are HIV infected or affected. Kids Connection also provides training to other family-serving agencies in the Portland area to improve their capacity to serve HIV-impacted families.
