let's talk.

Diversity at Fab Brands

,

Recently, we experienced a bit of confusion…

We had the chance to work with an awesome equity driven non-profit.  But we failed to effectively convey what diversity looks like at Fab Brands. On the surface, we do indeed appear to be a predominantly white team, consisting of two women, and three men. This description is in fact accurate, but there is also more to our identity than what initially meets the eye.

From the very beginning Fab Brands has celebrated being a women owned business. Our founder Beth Erlendson created Fab Marketing Group (now Fab Brands) in 2009 and has since used her marketing know-how to inspire and grow businesses across Portland (and beyond). Beth has worked in the marketing industry for over 25 years, and she is overjoyed to be using her expertise to support and grow something entirely her own.

Besides being women owned, we are also proud to say that two of our employees are members of the LGBTQ+ community, and another is a first generation American who’s parents immigrated to the U.S. from Cuba. We don’t like to put labels on our team members. Each employee at Fab Brands has earned their position on the team solely by their talent and just by being an overall amazing human! We can’t deny that being surrounded by a variety of backgrounds leads to a team that creates a better end product.

Diversity is an essential ingredient for creating a balanced, well-informed, and inclusive workplace. And… It is also a valuable marketing tool! When a workplace has solid diversity, you are able to communicate more effectively with your audience. You are also able to approach problems from many different angles, and thereby uncover the truly best solution. You are able to be more empathetic, better informed, and overall take better care of your fellow humans. Now it can’t get much better than that, can it?
